Our main goal is to make the work of VFX artists easier and ultimately to make it pleasurable. Whenever we see that something is being done with too much effort while it could be automated, we want to address it. Of course, we can’t make all possible tools and automate everything, we’re still a small team, but the main part of our vision is that we want to bring state-of-the-art science to modern VFX pipelines.
Initially we started with a variety of tracking nodes for Nuke. First for rigid geometry: PinTool and GeoTracker. Then our focus was shifted to human tracking, so we created FaceBuilder and currently we’re working on FaceTracker to complement it. By the way we created a number of helper nodes, and released some of them, like ReadRiggedGeo and TextureBuilder for example. And the list is growing, we have a number of new amazing nodes for Nuke in development and we work hard on expanding our support for other platforms.

Welcome to BlautopfVR - Unexplored nature – in the midst of Germany
The blue depths of the lake “Blautopf”, surrounded by myths and legends, form the entrance to a gigantic cave system underneath the Swabian Alb in the southwest of Germany.
A place difficult to access, dangerous and mysterious. For a few decades, daring cavers have been exploring the unique, widely branched cave system, that only a handful of people have ever entered. Until now…
Because from now on, the SWR with its project BlautopfVR, takes along everyone who wants to join the journey into the “Abenteuer Höhlenwelt”.The cave system was scanned via photogrammetry using the most modern technologies and was reconstructed 1:1. Thus, you can become immersed in it with the help of virtual reality.
Where myths meet an explorer’s mind
BlautopfVR consists of three parts:
- The virtual tour “Abenteuer Höhlenwelt” lets you experience the breathtaking beauty of the “Blauhöhlensystem”. Exciting videos and audios provide further information about the cave world.
- In the mysterious Adventure Game “Geheimnis der Lau”, you become the cave explorer and experience an adventure full of danger in the mysterious realm of Lau.
- The web documentation provides more information about the background of the project.
The project makes the hidden world of the “Blauhöhlensystem” accessible to the public for the first time. Visit our booth and dive in, using the Oculus Go, the HTC Vive and on the Web!
„BlautopfVR“ is a production of SWR (Südwestrundfunk) in co-production with Tellux next, kohelet3 and IT Media in cooperation with Höhlenverein Blaubeuren e.V. It is supported by MFG Baden-Württemberg and FFF Bayern.
