We have a strong philosophy about how to approach the production of Visual Effects with storytelling and visual strength at the centre of our method. We believe in close collaboration with our clients whom we work with as partners in filmmaking, This talk is about how we applied these philosophies in the making of the Emmy nominated, multi-VES Award winning Lost in Space.
Niklas Jacobson is the Chief Creative Officer and one of the co-founders of the Emmy-winning VFX Studio, Important Looking Pirates based in Stockholm, Sweden.
He is a seasoned visual effects veteran with 20 years of experience. In 2007 he founded ILP with his friend and colleague Yafei Wu after having worked in London for a few years. The goal was to bring international business to Sweden and be able to work globally from the capital of Scandinavia. Niklas' passion goes far beyond the final picture and he's keen on improving all aspects of leading a VFX company and creating tight collaborations with his Clients. He's currently in production with Netflix´s - Lost in Space for the second season.
Important Looking Pirates is one of Scandinavia's biggest visual effects and digital animation studio located in central Stockholm. Founded by artists in 2007 with the vision to become one of the top international suppliers of VFX in terms of quality, professionalism and service.
The studio has organically grown to 100 employees assembling one of the best visual effects teams in the business with talents from all corners of the world. We are deeply passionate about improving the process by which we do things and we actively strive to perfect all aspects of the company. That work goes far beyond the final picture.
We are proud to have been been an integral part of the success of TV series as HBO´s: Westworld, Stars´s: Black Sails and Netflix´s - Lost in Space, and some of our recent feature film work include movies such as Starwars: The Last Jedi and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. We are currently wrapping up our work on Disney's new Aladdin movie.
