Simon's Cat is a hugely successful animated comedy series featuring the mischievous and often hilarious antics of a charming cat and his long suffering owner - Simon. It was founded by Simon Tofield in 2007, an award-winning illustrator, animator and director. First launched as a black and white animation series on YouTube in March 2008 and it has since become “the feline internet phenomenon” with a presence in 100 countries. To date it has over 860m views on YouTube with 4.3m subscribers worldwide.
In this workshop we will show how, using a combination of tools, merging traditional drawn animation techniques with advanced vector morphing enables fluid hand-drawn motion in a very specific style to be emulated in a production environment.
