ESMA's Training : "CG & Special Effects Project Manager", validated at Master level by the French RNCP
4 years Our CG Animation training is proposed at ESMA School in french version in Montpellier, Toulouse, Nantes & Lyon, and in english only at the Lyon campus.
Every year, the students' placement rate at ESMA are pretty impressive: 90% only 6 months after their graduation. Firstly, the school aims to train generalists, that will also have the opportunity to specialize themselves during the creation of their end-of-studies project.
Precondition for access : selection is based on artistics qualifications and an interview. An excellent english level is also recquired (TOEIC : at least 600 pts).

The programs Media Technology and Design (BSc), Digital Arts (MA) and Interactive Media (MSc) offer industry-oriented education in digital media.
Media Technology and Design
This undergraduate program provides the relevant know-how by teaching students the necessary technical, creative and communication skills. In-depth knowledge of professional equipment and software is essential to the development and deployment in practice of creative and innovative ideas.
The latest advances in media technologies and design are the focus of this Master's degree. As well as offering a thorough grounding in practical applications including computer animation, audio/video and game design, the program seeks to build independent project management skills and to develop individual systematic approaches to communications strategies.

MultiMediaArt steht für medienübergreifende Konzeption und Gestaltung sowie für die Verbindung von Grafik, Bewegtbild, Interaktion und Audio in einem Studiengang. Nach einer Grundausbildung spezialisieren sich die Studierenden im Bachelor auf Mediendesign, Film, Computeranimation oder Audio. Weitere Schwerpunkte sind Motion Graphics, Game Design, Fotografische & Filmische Dokumentation, Konzeption & Design Thinking sowie Mediale Szenographie. Im Masterstudium konzipieren und gestalten die Studierenden medienübergreifende Innovationsprojekte. Animationsinstitut was founded in 2002 as part of the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. Since then it has evolved into one of the most renowned academic institutions for Animation, VFX, and Interactive Media.
Training follows a practice- and project-oriented approach, encouraging the interdisciplinary exchange with all students at the Filmakademie. All styles of animation are taught and seminars are led by distinguished international guest lecturers. In addition, the Institute is linked to other renowned film schools and institutions worldwide. Practical education is complemented by innovative academic research and by facilities equipped with state of the art technology.
Verifying the Institute’s training concept, its student films continuously win awards on the festival circuit. The students’ diploma projects, in particular, are very successful, regularly winning prizes at the most prestigious festivals, including SIGGRAPH and the VES Awards. As a consequence, the Institute’s alumni are highly sought after. Many start their careers in international media companies or renowned studios. Others found their own company, often based on concepts developed during their studies.
Since 1994, Animationsinstitut organizes the prestigious FMX, International Conference on Animation, Effects, VR, Games and Transmedia. The English-speaking non-profit event has evolved into Europe’s most influential conference for the creation, production and distribution of digital entertainment, bringing the key industry players to Stuttgart each spring.

The Film Academy Vienna is an artistically innovative center for education and training in filmmaking and media design at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, oriented toward a vital form of cross-disciplinarity, toward passions for artistic, creative discovery, and toward theoretical, reflective debate as well as the practice of taking critical positions in the global age of the media.
What began in 1951 as a special course in filmmaking - a class at the former Academy for Music and Performing Arts - is today a prosperous, internationally recognized institute within the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The work of the Film Academy Vienna consists of artistic production, with emphasis being placed on analysis and development of the arts involved. In addition, since March 2012, when a professorship in Media and Film Studies was created, theory and research have also been essential components of the institute‘s activity.

The Film University, founded in 1954 and formerly known as the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen “Konrad Wolf” (HFF), ranks among Germany’s largest and most modern film schools. In July 2014, it became the first film school in the country to achieve university status in recognition of its outstanding educational, artistic and research activities. The fertile combination of artistic experiments, technological developments, and academic reflection at the school gives rise to ambitious and innovative projects that promote creative thinking and provide new insights and approaches to film and other moving image media. Each year, some 170 projects – including short and feature films of any genre (fiction, documentary, animation) – are brought to completion by students at the Film University.

Animation and Game (BA)
The Animation and Game Programme at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt is a multidisciplinary Bachelor degree course with strong practical focus. Mainly carried out in English language it qualifies students for careers in the international media and entertainment industries. The unique combination of two disciplines, animation and game design, reflects the merging platforms and distribution channels and enables the graduates to successfully evolve in a highly dynamic professional field.
The course is essentially project-based. During 7 semesters the students will work on a wide range of subjects such as classical and CG animation, game design, game development, technical art, media theory and project management. The Faculty‘s resources include industry standard software and hardware, fully equipped film and sound studios, a motion capturing studio, a game/VR-lab and a usability lab.

Stuttgart Media University is a public university of applied sciences. It prepares specialists and generalists for work in today’s world of media. Students learn in modern lecture theatres as well as in workshops and studios, at printing machines or behind the camera. Exciting practical projects in the University’s laboratories or in cooperation with partner companies complement theoretical knowledge and scientific working methods. The “Bachelor of Engineering in Audiovisual Media“ is a program that combines both theory and practice, providing students with a strong understanding of media concepts as well as a thorough exposure to media production processes and craft. Students apply this knowledge by producing their own ideas in the areas of film, video and television, sound, computer animation, interactive media and event media. The quality and creativity of their work is regularly recognized by nominations and awards at national and international festivals.

The ifs internationale filmschule köln is a full study and further education institution with an artistic-scientific focus serving aspiring media professionals. Established in 2000, the ifs is consistantly ranked as one of the best film schools in Germany.
The ifs’ portfolio covers, amongst other programs, the Bachelor’s program Film with specialization in Screenwriting, Directing, Creative Producing, Director of Photography, Editing Picture & Sound, VFX & Animation, and Production Design.
The specialization in VFX & Animation focuses on the techniques of modern digital filmmaking such as keying, rotoscoping, compositing and animation. Supported by state-of-the-art equipment, students will increasingly get the opportunity to follow their own interests and gain specialization through numerous exercises, seminars and project work. Already the alumni of our first cohort VFX & Animation could settle down successfully in the industry.

The Kunsthochschule Kassel is one of the few internationally oriented art colleges that bring together scientific, artistic and art education degree programmes. It is one of a select handful of art colleges in Germany with university status. Around 1,000 students including master-class students are currently enrolled on degree programmes in Visual Arts, Art Education, Art History and Theory, Product Design and Visual Communication at the Kunsthochschule Kassel (KHK). Since 1979 animated films are produced. The teaching focus on the artistic development of the students. The students work in personal responsibility on individual and collaborative projects.

The Animation programme at Plymouth Coillege in the South West of the UK is establishing itself as a course which is developing a strong performance based curriculum focused on character design and animation in both traditional and digital approaches. We have just revalidated the current course and have been able to focus studies around drawing practices, modelmaking, 3D Printing and Computer generated skillsets. We are pleased to be a partner school at FMX for the 3rd time and are seeking to build educational conetcions with interested partners from Industry and with other educational institutions.
Game Arts offers an opportunity to focus on the development of artwork assets and level design for both AAA and indie based games in the development of a students portfoilio in Digital painting, Concept art, Character design and 3D skillsets. There are opportunities to work on live projects on both Animation and Games clourses in preparation for the transition into Industry.

Our Games Design and Visual Effects degrees will develop your artwork skills, programming, scripting and conceptual thinking. You'll learn in facilities with the latest technology. Our industry partnerships have resulted in the launch of our Epic Games Centre and our courses being affiliated with games industry body TIGA.
Our Games Design graduates are employed by industry heavy hitters. In the last few years they've worked with Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Codemasters, Jagex, Double Negative, Envy Post, Framestore, Flipbook Studios, Real Time UK, Burrows CG, MPC and Aardman Animations.

The Animation Workshop is a 27 year-old animation film school located in Viborg, Denmark (part of VIA University College’s School of Creative Industries). It is Scandinavia’s leading animation institution, with activities in the areas of education, culture, communication and business and benefits from a strong international network of artists, professionals, companies, funding institutions and partner schools.
We are composed of 7 distinct and vibrantly interconnected departments: the Bachelor of Arts in Character Animation, CG Arts and Graphic Storytelling, Professional Training Programs (incl. The School of Design at Victoria University of Wellington is located in New Zealand’s capital - a city consistently voted as the world’s “Coolest Little Capital” with good reason. Wellington punches way above its weight in producing internationally renowned digital media, underscored by blockbuster film releases. In 2017, we are proud to launch the new Miramar Creative Centre - a custom-built suite of production studios and classrooms that will be the home for our new Master of Digital Technology (MDT) degree. The primary goal of this degree is to provide the premiere pathway for students launching their careers in film, gaming, VFX, animation and AR/VR sectors. Staff from the Weta Group of Companies, including Park Road Post Production, will contribute to course delivery in programmes taught at the Centre and provide support to students as part of the course connections to industry. There will also be additional lecture spaces provided at the Roxy Cinema in Miramar.
