Content of my presentation: A brief description of what Foley is and how it adds dimension and soul to the sound of every film, television show, commercial and video game. I will demonstrate with clips from Frozen, Inside Out and Dark Knight Rises and talk about the approach to each project. I will touch on how we use different props to achieve certain sounds and some of the more difficult challenges we have had.
I got started in Foley in 1985 after training with a production sound crew. I got hired at a small independent Foley stage as a runner and was soon offered an internship. I left there to work at Warner Bros. Studio in 1992 and have been there ever since. I have won 3 Cinema Audio Society awards (for Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Inside Out), have worked on 100’s of films, television shows, commercials and video games and have been on the Executive Committee for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science for the past 12 years.
