Prototyping Narrative Worlds: Design Visualization and Collaborative Creation for Synchro-Media

Step into a sustainable Bedouin village, ten years in the future.

Experience augmented creatures including a floating whale flying above your head.

Two completely unique interactive and mixed reality experiences will provide the opportunity to explore how design visualization is both predictive and disruptive, and can unlock the future. 5D is a multi-platform, cross-discipline design studio that builds worlds by prototyping reality and actualizing clear visions of the future. Led by Creative Director Alex McDowell RDI, 5D applies it’s unique creative process across multiple industries.

The Al Baydha demo will showcase an interactive communication tool that delivers an immersive experience based on real-time data and embedded with educational narrative. Additionally, 5D will exhibit Leviathan, a long-term collaborative project with Intel and USC Cinematic Arts, which seeks to develop a new language for storytelling that incorporates elements and techniques of interactive media, theatre, and film.

Partners include USC’s World Building Media Lab, Intel Corporation, Optitrack, Unity, Microsoft, & Speedtree.
