Game of Thrones Season 4

Jörn Grosshans (Mackevision)

With the ever expanding world of Westeros and Essos, the challenges to create and enhance all the environments become greater with every season of Game of Thrones.

Mackevision and its brand new VFX department was tasked to create over 70 VFX shots of environments, crowd replications and CG ships, including water and ocean simulations.

VFX Supervisor Jörn Grosshans will explain the workflows and art behind some of the most iconic environments of the series, such as the Eyrie, the Red Keep and introducing the first-ever glimpse of the Free City of Braavos.

Furthermore, he will show several detailed breakdowns about different techniques of populating shots with crowds, for instance as wedding guests or armies and simulating and rendering photorealistic water and CG ships.
