25th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS)

The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Films (ITFS) celebrates its 25th anniversary edition! Founded in 1982, the ITFS has evolved into one of the world’s leading events for animated film. The Festival presents a full, up-to-date spectrum of animated filmmaking and its intersections with visual effects, architecture, art, design, music and games. It links cultures from all over the world: More than 90,000 visitors and 2,500 expert visitors among them, will be once again amazed of the wealth of interesting and extraordinary programs. The ITFS offers with more than 200 events and 1,000 films. As part of the anniversary, long-time festival friends, fans and former employees will share their memories within a commemorative publication. Furthermore the most important prize-winning films, trailer and moving film moments of 25 years of festival history will be showcased in a special program. The central meeting point of the anniversary will be the spectacular “Lightcloud”-pavilion which will be placed for the first time at the city center of Stuttgart.
In 16 competitions, more than 100.000 euros of prize money will be awarded, among them the newly initiated Cine Cube Award. Animation studios, experts and icons are on the spot, like the Oscar-nominated studio Cartoon Saloon from Dublin, the Moscow-based animator Ivan Maximov, co-founder and feature film-director of “The Simpsons” David Silverman, German cartoonist Joscha Sauer (“Nichtlustig”), and many more.
Animation Production Day 2018

Animation Production Day (APD), jointly organised by FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media, and Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), is the most important business platform for animation projects in Germany. It is taking place from 26–27 April 2018 at L-Bank Stuttgart. The APD co-production and financing market (accredited APD participants only) offers animation producers the opportunity to present their newly developed projects in the areas of film, TV series, mobile content, games, crossmedia and transmedia in pre-planned, 30 minute one-to-one meetings to potential co-producers, investors, broadcasters, international distributors, world sales and funders. A total of around 45 projects will be selected for participation in APD 2018.
A key part of the programme is once again the APD Conference which sees presentations of outstanding projects and the introduction of new business models and market trends. The APD Conference is open to all accredited FMX participants. You can find the program here.
