Under the umbrella of Canary Islands VFX, public institutions namely the Canary Islands Tax Incentives, ZEC, and Proexca collaborate closely with private companies and  stakeholders to actively drive the growth of the VFX sector. The results have been striking: from just 2 or 3 studios in 2021, the ecosystem has expanded to 13 by March 2026—a path that reflects not just growth, but acceleration.

This momentum is no coincidence. The Canary Islands have carefully built a competitive ecosystem where talent, infrastructure, tax incentives, and institutional backing intersect, positioning them as a rising hub for animation, video games, and digital content—while VFX follows a similarly robust and increasingly consolidated path.

Studios such as 22Dogs, Platige Canaries, Carrousel, Blurr Rojo, Efectoscopio Blue, Creators & Company Productions CISL, Flaming Frames, or Derrotero Studio, showcase the depth of both artistic creativity and technical expertise now present across the islands.

CapCut is a global creative powerhouse with over 200 million monthly active users, now supercharged by multimodal models and generative AI for instant text-to-video and image creation. The platform integrates professional multi-track editing with smart features like AI-driven script-to-video and background removal to deliver studio-quality results at unprecedented speed. Creators love it because it makes sophisticated VFX and AI-driven workflows intuitive and accessible for everyone, from mobile users to professional filmmakers.

The Carl Laemmle Institut complements the educational function of Filmakademie. In collaboration with partners in Germany and abroad, the department engages in research projects, developing technological innovations for the film and media world.

One major focus is the development of technologies that serve as the basis for ecologically sustainable productions at Filmakademie, its Animationsinstitut and beyond. Extended reality (XR) is a key technology in this context.

Artificial intelligence also has a strong influence on the creative processes of the film and media industry. It represent major opportunities and challenges. The focus of AI developments within the CLI is on the fair and traceable use of AI systems that support artists, but do not replace them.

The majority of the tools and software developed are available to all interested parties as Open-Source. In addition to Open-Access publications, extensive data collections are available to the entire creative industry under Creative Commons. This provides a comprehensive technological foundation for sovereign future developments.

MFG Baden-Württemberg is an institution of the state of Baden-Württemberg and Südwestrundfunk public broadcaster. MFG is short for Medien and Filmgesellschaft, which translates as Media and Film Society. The aim of MFG is to promote film culture and film industry as well as the cultural and creative industries in the Southwest of Germany.

MFG operates as a state-wide centre of excellence. It is a public promoter of culture and economic development and provides targeted support measures to the industry. The MFG Film Funding focuses on project funding, whereas MFG Creative focuses on networking and communication for the cultural and creative industries and on digital culture as a field of expertise. MFG works with its shareholders to provide supervision and advice for projects in the fields of media competence, open source, online state projects and university cooperations.

Pulze is a Budapest-based software company building the next generation of 3D production tools. Our flagship product, RenderFlow, is a modern render farm manager and studio automation platform built to replace the aging, unsupported tools studios have been stuck with for years. Supporting 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Unreal Engine, and more.

With the “Pipeline as a Service” approach, RnDeep creates tailor-made customer solutions to automate and optimize the content production workflow. Connecting the wide variety of industry production tools (DCCs) can be challenging and often involves interfacing with pre-existing software APIs, utilizing open source libraries and sometimes finding new, innovative ways. RnDeep excels at finding exactly these solutions. The software packages created and their user interfaces are tweaked for performance in cooperation with the customer.

RnDeep was founded in 2018. The company offers its services to clients worldwide, including US streaming and production companies, Visual Effects and Animation studios from the UK/Europe as well as local clients from within the AMCRS.
