The Animationsinstitut at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg trains outstanding talents at the highest level in the fields of Animation, Visual Effects, Technical Directing, Animation/Effects Producing and Interactive Media. Beyond study, it offers international talent & IP development initiatives and promotes a vivid community between students, graduates, faculty, and staff. In addition, the institute runs a Research & Development department and curates the annual international conference FMX. Founded over 30 years ago, in 1993, ESMA is an international benchmark for creative professions, particularly in 3D animation and visual effects. It also provides training in the fields of video games, graphic design, concept art illustration and interior design. FilmEU is a transformative European higher education alliance. It brings together eight European institutions active in film education, offering animation programmes in Brussels, Lisbon, Dublin, Viborg, Bratislava and Sofia. These programmes cover the full range of professional courses, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Those include fields such as digital animation, 3D animation, character animation, graphic storytelling, animation directing and animation arts.

The new Bachelor's program in Visual Effects & Virtual Productions equips students with artistic, methodological, and technological skills for a career in VFX and Virtual Productions. Graduates can pursue a Master's program or engage in artistic design, consulting, management of VFX productions, and more.
The Master's program in Animation Direction offers the greatest possible artistic freedom to deepen knowledge and skills, preparing students for leadership positions in the field of animation production. The Master's program in Creative Technologies combines audio-visual media technologies and software development with an artistic exploration of film and digital media art. Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences (HSHL) offers innovative and interdisciplinary degree programs in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, computer science and business. In 14 bachelor's and ten master's degree programs, 4700 students at HSHL are currently gaining practical qualifications for their future careers. At the two campuses in Hamm and Lippstadt, the university has state-of-the-art buildings and around 15,000 square meters of laboratory space for future-oriented teaching and research. The Animation and Game BA at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt combines a high academic standard with a strong practical orientation. The program offers two specialization pathways: Technology specialization and Art & Design specialization. Stuttgart Media University is a state university of applied sciences with over 30 degree programs in media.
The Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Media offers diverse fields of study including animation, film and VFX, sound production, interactive media / games, as well as tv productions and spatial experiences. The program combines creative design with technical expertise. Graduates complete their studies as creative media engineers, earning the academic degree of Bachelor of Engineering. The ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln is a full study and further education institution with an artistic-scientific focus. Established in 2000, the ifs is consistantly ranked as one of the best film schools in Germany.
The specialisation in VFX & Animation within the Bachelor’s programme Film offers a large-scale study programme that conveys all fundamental technical and design aspects of professional effects production and 3D animation. Supported by state-of-the-art equipment and tutors from the industry students get the opportunity to follow their own interests and gain specialization through exercises, seminars and project work.
The Master’s programme 3D Animation for Film & Games: it deepens the students’ existing knowledge of the 3D process with a rich set of methodical, theoretical and design-practical skills and will acquire new knowledge in areas such as authorship and experimental work. Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences offers exciting opportunities to study Digital Film Design - Animation/VFX and Game Design.
