Reimagining Visualization with Gaussian Splats

Video on demand

Proof CEO and founder Ron Frankel presents a detailed examination of the evolving role of Gaussian Splats in contemporary film production. Drawing on recent work from Jurassic World: RebirthThe Lost Bus, and Stranger Things Season 5, the session explores how this emerging technology is reshaping visualization, collaboration, and creative decision-making across the production lifecycle.

Frankel demonstrates how Gaussian Splats enable faster spatial understanding, more flexible creative iteration, and new use-cases for realtime visualization. Through practical examples, the session illustrates how Gaussian Splats are expanding what’s possible in Previs and beyond, pushing the boundaries of how stories are visualized and brought to life.

Ron Frankel, Proof Inc.

Ron Frankel is a pioneer in the field of feature-film visualization. He was the first to introduce Directors Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, and Darren Aronofsky to the use of Previs and has been a driving force behind integrating visualization across the full production lifecycle, including Pitchvis, Previs, Techvis, and Postvis.

Frankel continues to expand visualization into novel areas of entertainment, design and production. Recent work explores realtime technologies to create live visualizations, and applying visualization techniques to the design and planning of large-scale architectural installations, live-action VR cinematography, and theme park attractions.

Frankel holds a BA in Philosophy from Bowdoin College and a Master of Architecture from MIT. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Visual Effects Society, and the Realtime Society.
