Ethics in AI

Video on demand

We've all heard about Ethics in AI. But how conscious are we about the indirect impact of our own choice of interacting with AI? Which are the questions we should ask ourselves to complete our picture of the dynamics?

It starts with our personal value system, our own connection to the meaning of Art. But soon after - very soon actually - the focus must shift to our fellow humans, our relationship with them and how our actions impact them.

As humans we have a great capacity to filter out things which are uncomfortable, which ask for considerate action, which seem to drain energy and lead astray. Looking at evolution, these traits absolutely make sense, but in our hectic modern life (being bombarded with digital information), we grow more and more anxious, irritated and unhappy. Technology is supposed to make our lives better - especially AI. So .. why isn't it, across the board?

Awareness is key. Let's have a constructive discussion how to detect the patterns which control us and our behavior. A dialogue which goes beyond the status quo statements of "AI is just a tool" or "training data must be ethically sourced". The question - rooted deeply in philosophy and psychology - this process leads to ultimately: "How can I probe for a shared value system?"

If our Art is supposed to benefit and inspire others, we must focus on a healthy and sustainable methodology for its creation process.

For his role as CTO of vrbn (which is 80% Software Developers), he must have a solid understanding of all aspects of AI: How it actually works, its influence on geopolitics, finance and the computer hardware market, its marketing psychology, and how it affects company strategies, staff and the general public.
