The Animationsinstitut is part of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and one of the world's leading institutions for Animation, Visual Effects, Technical Directing, Animation/Effects Producing, and Interactive Media. Its curriculum is highly diversified, covering the full spectrum for linear and interactive formats. Projects range from artistically sophisticated, animated approaches to photo-realistic effect productions and technically innovative real-time variants. Students in various specializations work together to carry out hands-on projects in teamwork while they define their own style: Drawn animation, full CG, stop-motion, real-time animation, live action, interactive applications, VR and other techniques are all part of the curriculum. Limbo

LIMBO is a multisensory installation that invites us to explore the fragile nature of memory. In collaboration with artificial intelligence, participants transform personal moments into audiovisual “echoes” – distorted yet deeply resonant reflections of their stories.

An interactive Jam format, focusing on the aspects of interdisciplinary collaboration and the experimentation process while being confronted with the strict time constraint of 5 days. It consists of documented 1-week-workshops that result in an exhibition of the created works.

Send nudes is a 3D animated, comedic short film about two young lovers at the end of the 16th century having a long distance relationship. They send each other love letters with a carrier pigeon and since her parents are at home and don’t allow them to meet they can’t fulfill their fantasies together… for now.

Will Linda face her shadow? Linda’s shadow awakens in every interaction. Raised in a world where conformity protects women, it taught her to survive through silence, kindness, and the art of pleasing.

Lost

Jan Klingner (Transmedia Games Directing), Cyril Fischer (Transmedia Games Producing)

The VR experience Lost is an immersive VR experience that explores the aftermath of a stroke through the metaphor of a beloved garden overtaken by a dark infestation. Players, embodying an elderly woman, complete therapeutic tasks that test body coordination, timing, and memory to restore parts of the garden, though some scars remain permanent. With painterly visuals and symbolic storytelling, LOST reflects on resilience, loss, and the struggle to rebuild amidst irreversible change.
