Join Fortiche's CTO, Philippe Llerena and, and Matte Painting Supervisor, Martin Bailly, to go behind the scenes of the animated series Arcane. Together, they will reveal how Mari played a central role in the production of key assets and how they maintained a hand-painted look.
A graduate of LISAA (L'Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués), Martin's career started at Cube Creative Computer Company as a Visual Development Artist. He then expanded his skills and scope of action by successively holding the positions of Color Artist and Matte Painter, then Design Supervisor and Matte Painting Supervisor at Team TO. Before joining Fortiche, Martin also worked as Lead Matte Painter and Matte Painting Supervisor at Mikros Animation, contributing to projects of various sizes. In 2019, Martin joins Fortiche Production on Arcane season 1 as Matte Painter. His talent and commitment were quickly recognized, allowing him to advance to the roles of Senior Matte Painter and then Matte Painting Asset Supervisor at the start of Arcane season 2. Today, he is Supervisor Environment 2D for all Fortiche Production projects, including Riot Games' “Welcome to Noxus”, released in January 2025.
Graduated in science, Philippe Llerena has leveraged his expertise in quantum physics and mathematics to advance the field of 3D animation. He began his career as a Compositing Artist with leading special effects studios, where he developed a strong foundation in rendering, compositing, and lighting.
Philippe has since applied his skills to companies such as Superprod, The Yard, On Animation, and Isart Digital. In his current role as Chief Technology Officer at Fortiche Production, Philippe oversees technological innovations and contributes to the studio’s success, including its acclaimed series Arcane within the League of Legends universe.
