Bringing Robots to Life on Netflix’s “The Electric State”

Video on demand
Join Håvard Munkejord, Head of CG, and Natasja Helledie, CG Generalist, when they dive into Storm Studios’ workflow for bringing life to the robots they made for Netflix’s ”The Electric State”.    They will show how they use real life references as a starting point for both modelling and texturing, and how important this step is when creating assets for VFX. Using Mari as the base for the talk, they will go through how modelling and texturing were used to convey the main story and how it influenced the design of each individual robot. They will go through some of the challenges they encountered through the process, while sharing some of the techniques and creative decisions that played an essential role for the designs.    Join the talk to get an insight in their texturing workflow and get some tips and tricks for what to focus on when creating hero assets vs assets for crowds.

Natasja Bæk Helledie, Lead CG Artist, Storm Studios

Natasja started working as an intern at Storm Studios four years ago. Since then, she has worked as a generalist on multiple shows and most recently as lead CG artist on an upcoming project. Natasja loves the variety of tasks the generalist role brings, which has given her the opportunity to develop her skill set in many areas such as modelling, texturing, lookdev, lighting, layout and grooming.
