Maria Corcho, Lead Lighting Technical Director, Industrial Light & Magic
Maria Corcho is a Lead Lighting Technical Director at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), who brings over 10 years of experience working with Katana. Since joining ILM in 2017, Corcho’s film credits include Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Avatar: The Way of Water, Jurassic World Dominion, and Gladiator II.
On Gladiator II, Corcho’s lighting work included environments, crowds, and battle scenes on wet and dry land. Before this, Corcho received a Visual Effects Society Award nomination for her contributions to the lighting work on Avatar: The Way of Water
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Corcho studied Graphic Design and holds a degree in Computer Animation from École des Métiers Artistiques in France. She began her career at the Moving Picture Company, contributing to The Jungle Book, Alien: Covenant, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, among other films.
