 "Severance" is a globally celebrated, award-winning psychological thriller hailing from the un-severed minds of director and executive producer Ben Stiller and creator, writer, and executive producer Dan Erickson. Despite appearing deceptively straightforward, the visual effects are complex yet invisible, existing to further the narrative. Eric Leven, Production VFX Supervisor, Industrial Light & Magic

Eric Leven is a Primetime Emmy Award-nominated Visual Effects Supervisor who recently oversaw the effects work on the second season of the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series Severance. As the Production Visual Effects Supervisor on the series, he led the team that brought the meticulously designed worlds to life, including ILM’s work on the Lumon hallways. Before this, he was the Production Visual Effects Supervisor on Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, for which he received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. 

Throughout his career, Leven has been responsible for realizing creatures large and small, including the monsters in Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield and the foulmouthed “teddy bear” in Ted 2. He also led the effects animation team at Tippett Studio, designing tools and pipelines to create visual effects such as the never-before-seen swarm of alien bugs in Starship Troopers. 

Leven is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Among his many accomplishments, his work on Cloverfield earned him a VES Award nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects in an Effects Driven Feature Motion Picture. 

 

Michael Huber, Co-Founder & VFX Supervisor, east side effects

Michael Huber started his career in visual effects in 1998. After studying film-philology at the University of Munich, he worked as a digital compositor and compositing supervisor. In 2003 he started to work as VFX Supervisor for countless commercials and feature films, as a VFX Supervisor in Munich, Germany. Since 2013 he lives and works in New York.

Alex Lemke, Co-Founder & VFX Supervisor, east side effects

Alex Lemke started his career in traditional optical effects before moving into the digital world in 1994. Since 2000 he has been working as a freelance Compositor and VFX Supervisor in Europe, Oceania and the US. He won the VES Award for Best Compositing in 2002. From 2009 to 2012 he was Professor for the course “Digital Arts and Compositing” at the Vienna Film Academy, Austria. Since 2011 he has been living and working in New York.
