Bringing CASSANDRA to life with In Camera Realtime Visual Effects
In this presentation, the creative team behind CASSANDRA will unveil their groundbreaking method for integrating a stylized 3D character on set in real-time, alongside collaborating with an animatronic robot and incorporating CG elements during post-production to craft a genuine character.
The series follows a family who moves into an old smart home and reactivates its dormant robotic housekeeper, Cassandra, only to become the targets of her dark intentions.

Frank Schlegel began his career in1982 as stop motion animator and model maker. In 1985 he was Co-founder of a company working with what is now referred to asphoto-chemical effects. Among many other things he supervised analogue matte-paintings for Wim Wenders films.
Starting in 1997 he worked as freelance VFX supervisor for national andinternational film and TV productions.
Recent work includes “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, the two “Jim Button” films andin collaboration with Netflix, “Blood & Gold” and of course “Cassandra”.
Currently he is working on “Momo”, another adaptation of a book by Michael Ende.
Rouven Dombrowski has been working for Accenture Song, former Mackevision since 2007.
With 20 years of experience in the computer graphics industry Rouven worked for clients like Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Ratpack, Disney, Wiedemann & Berg, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari and Porsche.
He worked as an On-Set & Virtual Production Supervisor on Shows such as, Lost in Space, Seneca, Jim Button, Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Shadow and Bone, Girl You Know It’s True and Hui Buh und das Hexenschloss.
He holds a Diplom in Communication-Design from the University of Arts and Design in Saarbrücken (HBK-Saar).
Since the first home computer were introduced into his children's room, he has been interested in everything that has a monitor, buttons, knobs or can be plugged into a power socket.
Christine Resch has been working as a VFX Executive at Netflix since 2020, where she oversees visual effects for all Netflix films and series from the DACH region. Her work has contributed to award-winning projects such as "All Quiet on the Western Front," "The Empress," and “How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)”.
With over 10 years of experience in the film and television industry, Christine previously worked as a VFX Producer at RiseFX and Trixter in Munich and Berlin, including on-set work in Atlanta, GA. She holds an M.A. in Film Production & Media Business from the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), is a former mentee with Rise - Women in Broadcast, and serves as a board member of the Visual Effects Society (VES).
Passionate about advancing the industry, Christine is spearheading efforts to bridge the gap between production and VFX, to support the connection of VFX talent, and to campaign to advance female talent in VFX, virtual production, and animation.
