Moderated by Ian Failes (befores & afters), the panel features PXO’s expert crew and the series' filmmakers as they break down the process of bringing Westeros to life.

Sabrina Christoforidis

Sabrina Christoforidis, Head of Studio (Europe), Pixomondo

With an illustrious career spanning over 14 years at Pixomondo, Sabrina stands as a true luminary in the realm of visual effects and production. Sabrina's journey with PXO commenced as a producer in 2009, where she to wielded her creative prowess to orchestrate some of the company's most acclaimed projects. Sabrina soon ascended through the ranks, moving into the role of Executive Producer. ​

In 2022, Sabrina embarked on a new chapter as the Group Head of Business Development. Her dynamic approach to identifying opportunities has been instrumental in driving PXO's growth and expanding its global footprint.​

At the beginning of 2023, Sabrina assumed the role as Head of Studio for PXO’s European studios. ​

Her collaboration on the iconic Game of Thrones series earned her the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Visual Effects. Her indelible mark continued this year as she played a pivotal role in the BAFTA award-winning team behind House of the Dragon, a testament to her extraordinary talent and dedication.

 

Sven Martin, VFX Supervisor, Pixomondo

Sven led PXO’s team on the HBO series Game of Thrones in season two where he remained until the eighth and final season. Sven's time on the show won him two Emmys, three VES Awards, and two HPA Awards. ​

Sven continued his journey supervising the visual effects of the critically acclaimed House of the Dragon S1, also overseeing the Virtual Production of the series. Most recently Sven was the VFX supervisor on S2, his work gained him a HPA award for Outstanding Visual Effects and a VES nomination. ​

Sven was in the unique position working as client-side supervisor, PXO's VFX supervisor, and as on-set supervisor for Tom Clancy's Without Remorse.

Sven joined PXO in 2008.​

 

Matt Perrin

Matt Perrin, Senior Visualization Supervisor, Pixomondo

Matt is one of the UK's highest profile Previs Supervisors, having led multiple tent pole features and HETV shows over the last decade.​

Matt's career in visualization started in 2010 at the nascent Destroy All Monsters, where he worked on shows including 'James Bond: Skyfall' and 'World War Z'.​

In 2012 he moved to Proof where he supervised previs on Guardians of the Galaxy, Fantastic Beasts 1 & 2, multiple within the Fast & Furious franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Aladdin, Spider-man: Far From Home, The Little Mermaid, The Blacklist, and Doctor Strange 2

In 2022, Matt joined PXO, and recently supervised the previs on House of the Dragon S2. His work earned him a HPA Award and a VES nomination.

 

Mark Spindler, VFX Supervisor, Pixomondo

Mark has been a key part of the PXO team since 2012, with much of the last decade spent focused on creature work, includng six years on Game of Thrones. His work with the iconic dragons earned him two VES nominations.​

Mark's expertise has also been crucial to the success of PXO's creature work on titles such as The Mandalorian and Ridley Scottt's Raised by Wolves.  ​

Mark was reunited with the scaly species that started it all, on House of the Dragon. He was recognized for his work on Season 1 with an Emmy nomination and an HPA award. Most recently, Mark has dived into Season 2 of the series, winning another HPA award for Outstanding Visual Effects and a VES nomination. 

 

Ian Failes, Editor-in-Chief, befores & afters

Ian Failes is a journalist based in Sydney specialising in visual effects and animation. Ian recently launched his own VFX and animation publication called befores & afters (beforesandafters.com) and an accompanying print magazine. He has written for fxguide, Cartoon Brew, VFX Voice, 3D Artist, 3D World and many other publications. Ian is the author of the book, ‘Masters of FX’. He holds the world's largest collection of memorabilia from the film Speed.
