MASTERCLASS: Learn in-camera effects filmmaking with Todd Sheridan Perry

In this follow-up to Todd Sheridan Perry’s talk on the practical and in-camera effects of ‘I’m A Virgo’, he’ll be joined by VFX journalist Ian Failes to deliver a masterclass on how to set up a forced perspective shoot, right there as a hands-on demo for attendees.

Todd Sheridan Perry, VFX Supervisor, Amazon Studios

Todd Sheridan Perry works in the film industry as a freelance visual effects supervisor/artist as well as a screenwriter, editor and director. Perry is a classically trained artist, as well as both a traditional and digital animator. His diverse background in video games, film and television has led him to play key roles in projects ranging from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Chronicles of Riddck, and 2012 to more recently, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, Marvel’s Black Panther, and Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles. He recently was supervising on the aerial unit for Devotion, on-set for the second and third season of AppleTV+ For All Mankind for Sony Pictures. This past year he wrapped up the Amazon series I’m A Virgo for with director Boots Riley, which was nominated for a VES Award for Best Practical FX. And he assisted wth VFX Supervision in post on season 4 on For All Mankind.

Ian Failes, Editor-in-Chief, befores & afters

Ian Failes is a journalist based in Sydney specialising in visual effects and animation. Ian recently launched his own VFX and animation publication called befores & afters (beforesandafters.com) and an accompanying print magazine. He has written for fxguide, Cartoon Brew, VFX Voice, 3D Artist, 3D World and many other publications. Ian is the author of the book, ‘Masters of FX’. He holds the world's largest collection of memorabilia from the film Speed.
