Valentin Huber, VFX Artist & Supervisor, Lecturer, Research Associate, Das alte Lager

Valentin Huber, VFX Artist & Supervisor, Lecturer, Research Associate   Valentin Huber is a Zurich-based VFX Artist and VFX Supervisor. In 2020 he co-founded the company “Das alte Lager”. Over the past years, he and his colleagues worked on multiple swiss and european movies and tv-shows and international advertisements for Lindt, ON-Running and Spotify, among others. He is also working as a lecturer and research associate in Department of Performing Arts and Film and in the Immersive Arts Space at the Zurich University of the Arts. His teaching includes the use of new technologies in filmmaking, compositing, photogrammetry and LiDAR scanning, as well as motion capture. His artistic, practice-based research is centered on the development of previsualization tools for production and education.

Ben Kent, Research Engineering Manager, Foundry

Ben is the Research Engineering Manager at Foundry as well as a screenwriter and film director. After completing his masters in Engineering at Cambridge University, he joined Foundry in 2001, at first developing state of the art effects plug-ins and more recently leading the A.I. research team. He was one of the team to win a 2007 Academy Award for Science and Engineering for his work on Foundry's Furnace toolset. As a filmmaker he's produced over twenty shorts and his feature film debut, comedy horror Killer Weekend was released around the world in 2019. 

Giuseppe Lombardi, Film Director, Senior VFX Artist & VFX Compositing Trainer

Giuseppe Lombardi is a full-stack Film Director, Senior Vfx Artist & Vfx Compositing Trainer since 2009. He works with Visual Effects, Computer Graphics and Video Direction in Italy and abroad. Giuseppe worked in various countries for Oscar-winning studios such as Double Negative, Framestore, Cinesite, Ghost VFX and Rise FX. His credits include films like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Pacific Rim, Independence Day: Resurgence and many others.

 

In 2018 Giuseppe founded Wow Tapes, a video production company that makes spots and corporate videos for customers such as Enel, Emergency, FS, Manfrotto, etc. Wow Tapes also worked on several TV & Internet productions with a special focus on Travel related Film & Media. Wow Tapes videos were recognized and awarded by various international festivals (Silver Dolphin of Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2019, First Prize of International Tourism Film Festival Africa 2019, Vimeo Staff Picks, Grand Prix of the Japan World's Tourism Film Festival, Best European Film at ART & TOUR International Tourism Film Festival Portugal 2019, Second Prize of Amorgos Tourism Film Festival 2019 etc.)

As a modern video production company Wow Tapes adopted a philosophy of innovative storytelling. Hence visual effects techniques are an intrinsic part of Wow Tapes narration. 

 

As a Digital Compositing Trainer and Senior Artist, Giuseppe Lombardi possesses an accurate technical and artistic knowledge of film post-production and visual effects. He is currently one of the few Italian trainers to have obtained the official Nuke Trainer by The Foundry® license with teaching experience in Italy and abroad. Giuseppe Lombardi conducted courses for Unesco Edu, IED School of Design Rome, VTV Vietnam National Television Hanoi, ViFX School of Visual Effects Vicenza, AVFX (Italian Visual Effects Association), ACCAEDI and others. Giuseppe’s advanced training and teaching techniques help to make VFX compositing a powerful tool for digital artists and storytellers.
