Join DNEG Animation's creative team behind Entergalactic as they explain how they achieved the project's incredibly stylized look. Costume Modeller, Natasha Kanolik will delve into what it took to create fashion designer Virgil Abloh's designs in CG while Animation Director, Kapil Sharma, will speak to how his team created an animation style that was reflective of the show.
Kapil Sharma is an Animation Director at DNEG Animation with his most recent work being the Netflix television event, ‘Entergalactic’. He is also the Animation Director on the upcoming feature film, ‘That Christmas’. He served as Animation Supervisor on ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’, helming the development of the show’s main character, Barney. Since joining DNEG in 2017 as an Animation Lead, Kapil has been involved in building the animation team, while helping to fine-tune the rigging and animation pipeline. Prior to joining DNEG, he worked with DreamWorks Animation’s India unit on movies such as ‘Trolls’, ‘Penguins of Madagascar’ and ‘Madagascar 3’. He has also lent his skills to the ‘Shrek’ and ‘Madagascar’ shorts and the ‘Kung Fu Panda’ ride.
Natasha is a Modeller at DNEG Animation and is best known for her work on Netflix’s ‘Entergalactic’.
With a degree from Birmingham City University in Fashion Design, with Design for Performance, she started her career in the wardrobe departments of major theatrical productions, such as ‘The Book of Mormon’ and ‘Peter Pan’. She then became a Costume Supervisor for feature films and Off-West End theatre productions.
After much success, Natasha traded in the theatre for CG and completed an intensive course in 3D for VFX at Escape Studios in London, with a focus on the art of modelling and surfacing. She started at DNEG as a runner but soon after was promoted to artist on DNEG Animation’s modelling team, where she worked on their first feature film, ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’.
Since then, she has been responsible for modelling the majority of the costumes on ‘Entergalactic’ and is now part of the Environment Modelling Team for the upcoming movie ‘Garfield’.
