In this talk, we take a look at the inspiration, planning and process that went into building the cities in “Game of Thrones” (including the Emmy Award winning episode “The Bells”). From early planning, to previs, to execution and integration into Scanline VFX pipeline, we touch on various aspects of the city building process, both creative and technical.
Mohsen Mousavi is an Emmy-winning visual effect supervisor based in Vancouver, Canada. Mohsen's expertise in high-end visual effects and his reputation for constant innovation in advanced methodology made him a perfect fit to oversee Scanline's VFX for the crucial last three episodes of the final season of Game of Throne for which he received an Emmy at 2019 Prime time Emmy awards
Over past 15 years, Mohsen has been involved in high profile feature film projects such as Martin Scorsese's “Hugo”, Roland Emmerich's “2012” and “Independence Day 2”, “The Amazing Spiderman”, “San Andreas”, Jon Turteltaub's “The MEG” to name a few.
Dominik is the Director for global business development Smart Cities at Esri Inc. in Redlands (CA). He works with global entertainment companies like Pixar, Scanline VFX, Weta, or Walt Disney Animation. Dominik was a co-founder of Procedural Inc., the maker of the software CityEngine, which was acquired by Esri.
