When we received the concept art for The Mitchells vs. The Machines, with the goal of not just using it for inspiration, but having the final frames match the Look of Picture, the team at Sony Pictures Imageworks rose to the challenge of taking their in house phsyically based render, combined with custom look development and animation tools, and Open Shading Language (OSL), to create an illustrative stylized feature film!

Look Development Supervisor on "The Mitchells vs the Machines", Kurt has been involved in lookdev, lighitng, and compositing for visual effects and animation projects at Sony Pictures Imageworks from 2003 to present. 

Christos Obretenov, Founder & Shading Architect, Lollipop Shaders

Principal Shader Writer on "The Mitchells vs. The Machines," and other Stylzied Rendering projects with Sony Pictures Imageworks, Christos' company Lollipop Shaders has been developing shading tools and workflows in Stylized Rendering for feature film animation, and he is the Lead Developer for RenderMan's Stylized Looks.
