Business Platform for the European Animation Industry
Stuttgart / May 5 – 7 2026
Animation Production Days (APD) is a business platform for the European animation industry, connecting producers and creatives with potential co-production and financing partners. In 2026, the event takes place for the 20th time, bringing together around 180 industry professionals from across Europe and beyond to network, form strategic alliances, and explore the latest trends in animation.
As the leading co-production and financing market in the German-speaking region, APD provides a unique stage for showcasing newly developed animation projects. In 2026, a total of 51 outstanding and innovative projects from 23 countries have been selected for presentation. Producers and creatives will meet with potential partners in pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, with around 1,000 meetings expected during the event. Additional networking events allow accredited attendees to continue discussions and deepen new contacts in a relaxed setting.
APD Talent Programme
The APD Talent Programme highlights and supports emerging talent as they take their first steps in the industry. Young producers and creatives have the opportunity to discuss their project ideas with experienced industry experts, expand their networks, and connect with potential partners. In 2026, 9 of the 51 projects are part of this initiative.
APD Conference
The APD Conference is an integral part of the programme and focuses on discussing current trends and challenges in the industry. The conference (5 May 2026, 1:45 PM – 4:30 PM, Haus der Katholischen Kirche) is open to FMX, ITFS & APD accredited attendees.
Topics:
- Part 1: This panel looks at AI in animation film practice today and explores where film could be heading next, beyond hype, fear, and buzzwords.
- Part 2: The session explores which signals influence audience decisions and how the strategic development of projects needs to adapt so that IP can travel across multiple environments from the outset.
Animation Production Days is part of Stuttgart Animated Week and is a joint venture of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) and the FMX – Film & Media Exchange.
