In this presentation MPC Film’s VFX team pull back the curtain on the visual effects and animation work behind one of the most monstrously epic scenes in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Godzilla Vs Kong. MPC VFX Supervisor Pier Lefebvre, Animation Supervisor Michael Langford and Lead Animator Lucas Nunes will reveal the creative and technical challenges behind the VFX and Animation of the next chapter in the cinematic monsterverse.

Pier recently led MPC's artists as VFX Supervisor for the upcoming Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters Afterlife. Prior to Ghostbusters he was VFX Supervisor on Legendary's Godzilla vs Kong, leading MPC Film's artists to craft gigantic monsters, city environments and large scale destruction effects. Prior to Godzilla he was VFX Supervisor on Shazam! and the critically acclaimed First World War film, 1917 for which MPC won the Academy Award for Best VFX.In 2018, Pier was on-set VFX Photographer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Digital Effects Supervisor for the underwater superhero movie, Aquaman.In 2017, Pier was Environment Supervisor for Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express. As Environment Supervisor Pier was integral to the creation of the iconic futuristic world of Ghost in the Shell, helping to transform the original animated manga version into a photo-real environment of futuristic buildings and vehicles, elevated highway systems and traffic and crowd simulations. Pier joined MPC in 2012 as a Senior Digital Matte Painter, quickly rising to Lead on a number of shows including Man of Steel, The Lone Ranger, Godzilla, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and X-Men: Apocalypse.Prior to joining MPC, other notable credits include 300, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Michael’s most recent role was as MPC Animation Supervisor for the box office smash, Godzilla Vs. Kong. His team animated the movie’s stand out sequence, in which Godzilla and Kong battle it out in the neon lights of a vibrant Hong Kong.
Before lending his expertise to the MonsterVerse, Michael was Animation Supervisor on Underwater. His team were charged with animating two types of terrifying monsters in William Eubank’s sci-fi creature feature, the Clingers and the massive Behemoth.
Michael joined the MPC team in 2014, continuing to work on an enormous number of high-profile titles. He has led the MPC animation team to create extraordinary characters in groundbreaking photorealism. From the Abominable snowman in Goosebumps, to the Sentinels for X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Before joining MPC, Michael was a Senior Animator at Sony Imageworks, working on The Amazing Spider-Man and The Smurfs 2.
Lucas currently is a Lead Animator on Pinnochio, directed by Robert Zemeckis. Prior to his Lead role he was a Senior Animator on Ghostbusters: Afterlife as well as on one of his dream projects, Godzilla vs Kong, where he was part of the team from previz to final animation. Prior to Godzilla he was an animator on Artemis Fowl, Shazam!, The Predator and on his first Monsterverse movie, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Before joining MPC in 2017, he was an animator on various projects from TV Series, Advertising, Games, and a small feature.
