The last several years have seen an exponential increase in the speed, quality, and capabilities of Generative Machine Learning tools, with disruptive effects on almost every industry. AI can now generate images, video, audio, textured 3D models, mocap, FX elements, 3D environments, materials, roto, paint, depth mattes, and many other assets used in VFX and Animation. We are facing a fundamental shift in the way that our industry functions, but it does not need to be an existential crisis. This panel features artists, technicians, and researchers working to find ways to use these tools rather than to be replaced by them. This group of AI optimists shall unpack the opportunities from the risks and point towards a hopeful future in which creators are empowered and unburdened while the human/machine interface is entirely reinvented.
