Last year we delivered all VFX shots (over 800 total) for the most expensive non-English series to date: Babylon Berlin by mastermind directors Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries und Henk Handloegten. Set in Berlin in the 20s our work led by VFX supervisor Robert Pinnow involved historically accurate set extensions with hundreds of digital buildings, underwater environments, CG landscapes and trains, CG aerial shots and the most detailed crowd simulations including CG cloth that we had ever attempted. Thanks to all 120 artists in Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart and Cologne we delivered this monster on time. Now on Sky, in some territories on HBO and on Netflix in the US.
This tech-wiz behind RISE | Visual Effects Studios’ IT infrastructure and pipeline development roadmap also takes on duties as VFX Supervisor, VFX Producer and Managing Director of RISE. Robert has recently been working closely with the director Tom Tykwer on A Hologram for the King and Babylon Berlin (obviously). While managing all of this, he still loves to grab a soldering iron from time to time to help with some of RISE’s more experimental R&D projects. That's also why his fingers are always a bit burnt.
RISE is an award-winning, gravity-defying, ass-kicking VFX company with offices in Berlin, Cologne, Stuttgart and Munich.
If you think you've seen it all - you haven't until you've worked here. This is where dreams are made, technology is pushed to it's breaking point and company parties are refered to as "the end of all days". In the past we've delivered work for Guardians of the Galaxy, Harry Potter and Captain America. We've recently finished work on Black Panther, Jim Button, Dark, Babylon Berlin and Sense8. We're currently working full throttle on Avengers: Infinity War and other shows who's titles shall not be named - at least for now.
