Jose F San Román, CEO, Ilion Animation Studios

Jose Frederick is CEO of Ilion Animation Studios, based in Madrid. He joined in 2011 with the aim of reclaiming Ilion´s position as one of the top independent animation studios after having released Planet51 in 2009. Today, and having produced one feature film in the interim (Mortadelo y Filemón, 2014), Ilion has partnered with Paramount Pictures to produce tent-pole feature films. He started his career in animation by raising funds and restructuring one of Europe´s earliest 3D animation studios, Dygra Films, creators of The Living Forest, 2001. Prior to animation, Jose Frederick was an investment banker for 15 years based in London, working with entities such as Barclays, JPMorgan and Lehman Brothers. He earned his B.S.B.A. from the School of Management at Boston University in 1991 and a Corporate Finance post-graduate diploma from London Business School in 1996. He is a dual U.S. – Spanish citizen.

FMX is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the City of Stuttgart and MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg, taking place in cooperation with the VES Visual Effects Society and ACM SIGGRAPH. FMX is an event by the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, organized by Animationsinstitut, hosting the Animation Production Days (APD), a joint venture with the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS).
